Okay, I love all of the enthusiasm you all are showing concerning the blog! :) Thanks for your cooperation and excitement. Now we are ready to discuss, and hopefully teach someone something, learn something or just have an intellectual dialect. SO... let's put our childish ways behind us and think seriously; please answer truthfully and think about your answer; do this thoughtfully and respect each others opinion. You are to answer the question/write your thoughts or questions on it and reply to one of your classmates' post.
The Truth Project video we are watching is Anthropology: Who Is Man?
Anthropology is the study of man and it is something that you might have to take in college, and being the Bible scholars you are, you want to know what the world is teaching, what the Bible says regarding this and how to better defend your faith. 1 Peter 3:15, "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear..."
Question: 1) What is the pernicious lie? 2) Explain the concept Dr. Tackett addressed, dying to self. 3) Where does evil come from? 4) It's all about who?
You need to answer two of the questions above: choose wisely and answer thoughtfully. Do not all give the same answer. Can't wait to see your discussion :)
1: The pernicious lie is the matter of man being good. He is good. Everything he does and his total being is good. This is nothing but a lie straight from the very pits of Hell. We are wicked, and wicked above all other things. It is in our nature to rebel against God, to cause disarray to order, chaos to peace and corruption to purity. We need a Savior more than we know.
ReplyDelete3. Evil comes from us and our desires opposite God's nature and laws He set up. It comes from us, and only throuh God's devine intervention do we have a hope for turning away from our nature.
1)The pernicious lie is that man in inherently good and that his greatest need is to get in touch with his inner desires.
ReplyDelete2)Dr. Del Tackett thinks that we should die to ourselves. According to Abraham Maslow, we should achieve "self-actualization" by fulfilling our desires. He feels this would work because man is, by nature, good. However, the Bible says that we should die to ourselves and our sinful natures daily: Gal. 2:20; Gal. 5:24; Luke 9:23; Mark 8:35; John 12:24; Matt 10:38; Rom. 12:1; Rom. 6:3; Rev. 20:4-6.
3)Evil comes from us. After the fall man became imperfect and capable of sin. All evil in the world comes from our disobedience and unworthiness toward the holiness of God.
4)It's all about us. Our own selfishness.
1)The pernicious lie is the lie that man is pretty much good and that the greatest thing he feels is to self-actualize and fulfill his inner desires.
ReplyDelete3)Evil comes from within us. We are sinful beings and act on our selfish desires.
1)The Pernicious Lie is a lie that man is basically good and that he needs to do what makes him feel good.
ReplyDelete2)Dying to yourself means to stop letting everything be about you and submit, listen, and help other people, and to God. Let go of your pride.
3)Evil comes from the one and only SATAN his rebelliousness brought it in.
1.) The pernicious lie states that man is good and he does what he does to satisfy himself.
ReplyDelete2.) Dying to self means to basically be selfless instead of selfish.
3.) Evil comes from inside us.
4.) I don't understand the question...
In reply to Kate:
ReplyDeleteI love how in depth you got with your answer. I want to be like you when I grow up aha. :)
2) When Dr. Tackett says "Dying to self" he means that putting or selfish needs and desires away and follow God and help others.
ReplyDelete3) As human beings and NOT GOD, evil has been inside us since birth. Once Adam and Eve disobeyed God we have been cursed with sin(evil).
